Todd\u2019s life was a testament to strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication, and his absence leaves a void that will be felt deeply by everyone who knew him.<\/p>\n<p>To know Todd was truly a gift. His impact on our family, his friends, and the wider community will leave an enduring legacy\u2014one that will ensure Todd\u2019s memory continues to inspire and uplift all those fortunate enough to have known him. Known as one of the good guys, Todd was a trailblazer and a natural leader. His compassionate and trustworthy nature made him someone you could always rely on, someone who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. Todd was a devoted father, husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend\u2014every role he embraced with love, integrity, and a generous spirit.<\/p>\n<p>Todd is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sandy Lee, whose unwavering support and love helped him through his illness. He was a proud father to his two sons, Alec and Lochlin, whose lives he touched profoundly with his guidance and love. Todd is also survived by his mother, Marion; brothers Tim (Anna) and Tony; sister Stephanie; nephew Bowen; and many other lifelong friends and extended family members. Each of them will carry his memory in their hearts forever.<\/p>\n<p>Todd was predeceased by his father, Murdock Cranston, as well as numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins whose spirits he held dear. His roots in family and tradition were a cornerstone of his life.<\/p>\n<p>A proud graduate of JL Isley High School and Saint Mary\u2019s University, Todd built a successful career in the technical sales industry. He began in the signage business, transitioned into financial services, and eventually became the Regional Sales Manager for Eastern Canada with Hetek Solutions. Todd\u2019s dedication and expertise helped grow Hetek\u2019s presence across Eastern and Atlantic Canada. His instrumental role in the 2022 acquisition, where he led the integration of the two companies, set Hetek up for future success. Todd\u2019s colleagues and the company\u2019s leadership have expressed their gratitude for his leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment during this pivotal moment. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Hetek\u2019s staff and leadership for their compassion and support during their difficult journey.<\/p>\n<p>An avid sports enthusiast, Todd dedicated his life to athletics both as a competitor and mentor. Growing up, he played minor hockey with Armdale and Chebucto, later advancing to junior hockey with the Halifax Lions. He was also a high-level racquetball player, earning nine provincial championships, competing in ten national championships from 1979 to 1988, winning the Racquetball ProAm in Bangor, Maine, and earning a silver medal at the 1979 Canada Games. Todd\u2019s athletic pursuits extended into handball, where he competed nationally, and into Dory Boat Racing, where he was a champion multiple times and participated in international competitions. An interesting piece of history: Todd played and won the last handball game at the old YMCA before it was torn down. His sporting achievements are numerous and inspiring, reflecting his dedication, talent, and passion.<\/p>\n<p>As a coach, mentor, and friend, Todd\u2019s influence extended far beyond the playing field. He was deeply involved with Chebucto Minor Hockey, serving as President from 2010 to 2014 and coaching extensively at various levels. His dedication to developing young athletes and fostering a love for the game was evident in his work with Hockey Nova Scotia and numerous hockey programs across Atlantic Canada and the northern United States. One of his most cherished moments was coaching alongside his son Alec on the Citadel Phoenix Hockey Team, where they won back-to-back provincial championships\u2014a memory that will forever be etched in their family\u2019s hearts.<\/p>\n<p>While his accomplishments are numerous, Todd\u2019s most meaningful legacy is his connection with people. Whether sharing a laugh in the locker room, inspiring colleagues at work, or enjoying a Friday night with his mother, his warmth and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone he met.<\/p>\n<p>Above all, Todd\u2019s greatest joy was his family. The love and dedication he poured into his wife and sons was nothing short of extraordinary. His presence, guidance, and love shaped their lives, and they will forever cherish the memories they created together.<\/p>\n<p>The family wishes to thank everyone who supported them during this difficult time\u2014friends, family, medical professionals, colleagues, and caregivers. Their kindness and compassion have meant the world to them. Special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Hospice Halifax, particularly Sam, whose dignity and care made Todd feel truly respected and comforted during his final months.<\/p>\n<p>Todd\u2019s cremation will be supported by Cole Harbour Funeral Home. In accordance with his wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date, details to be announced.
