Though his time on earth was far too short, Gavin made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.<\/p>\n<p>Born on December 19, 2012, in Danville, Virginia, Gavin was the beloved son of Heather Coleman Joyce and Randall Hutcherson (Kim). He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Stephen Joyce; his papa, Doug Hutcherson; and his maternal grandparents, Howard and Sandra Coleman.<\/p>\n<p>Gavin was a seventh-grade student at Victory Baptist Church Academy and was deeply rooted in his faith. He loved Jesus, had been saved through his confession of faith, and faithfully attended New Life Community Church. His faith was an important part of his life and shaped the caring and joyful spirit that so many admired.<\/p>\n<p>Those who knew Gavin remember him as a fun-loving and spirited young boy who could light up any room with his laughter and personality. He shared a close bond with his family, especially his brother, Evan, whom he looked up to greatly. Gavin dreamed of one day having a car just like his brother\u2019s, a reflection of the admiration and love he had for him.<\/p>\n<p>He found joy in life\u2019s simple pleasures. Gavin loved trips to Chick-fil-A and McDonald\u2019s, ice cream outings, and all kinds of chocolate treats. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether at the beach, the lake, or the pool, where he especially loved swimming. At home, he spent countless hours playing video games, building intricate Lego creations, and collecting army men. His feisty spirit, sense of humor, and adventurous personality made him unforgettable to everyone around him.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his parents, Gavin leaves behind his brother, Julio Evan Campos; sister, Kelsie Rea; granny, Jeannie Hutcherson; grandparents, Danny and Joan Joyce; great-grandmother, Jean Neville; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever treasure his memory. He also adored his beloved pets\u2014Cinnamon, Oreo, Drake, Lucy, Sophie, Debbie Snacks, and Vegas.<\/p>\n<p>A funeral service celebrating Gavin\u2019s life will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at New Life Community Church with Pastor Terry Knighten officiating. Interment will follow at the Coleman Family Cemetery.
