On May 3, 2026, the Coetzee family faced an unimaginable tragedy—losing their beloved son, Lucien. At just 14 years old, Lucien was a remarkable young boy whose loving nature, wisdom beyond his years, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His sudden departure has left a void that words cannot fully express, but through this remembrance, we honor his life and the beautiful legacy he leaves behind.
Lucien was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, a city he loved and where he made many lifelong friends. Despite his young age, he possessed a depth of character and maturity that hinted at the extraordinary person he was destined to become. Lucien’s kindness and compassion knew no bounds—always eager to help others, listen patiently, and bring comfort to those around him. His curiosity about the world and his thoughtful nature set him apart as someone truly special.
He was a bright, curious boy who found joy in simple pleasures—whether exploring nature, reading books, or enjoying time with family and friends. Lucien’s smile was infectious, and his laughter brought warmth to every room. He had a quiet strength and an old soul’s wisdom that inspired those who knew him. His parents and family remember him as a loving, wise, and caring son who approached life with hope and genuine kindness.
Though his time with us was far too brief, Lucien’s impact will be felt forever. His gentle spirit, his loving heart, and his wisdom beyond his years will continue to inspire everyone who knew him. His family finds solace in the memories they cherish and in knowing that Lucien touched many lives in his short journey on this earth.
A funeral service to celebrate Lucien’s life will be held on May 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Fish Creek Chapel at McInnis & Holloway. A reception will follow to honor his memory and allow friends and family to gather in love and support during this difficult time. The Coetzee family invites all who knew Lucien to join them in remembering the extraordinary young boy who was dearly loved and profoundly missed.
Though we mourn his loss, we also celebrate his life—one filled with love, kindness, and the promise of a future that was tragically cut short. Lucien’s spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved him.
